What brought me here was a desperate sense of alienation. I spent so much of my life feeling unseen and misunderstood, struggling to fit in and to feel inspired and fulfilled by following conventional notions of ‘success’.

It is easy to feel isolated and burdened doing 1-1 therapeutic work. Allowing our struggles to be heard, our efforts to be witnessed and our wins to be celebrated by another experienced practitioner is vital to our ongoing development.
Most importantly, supervisors offer another perspective on our clients and our client relationships. All of us have blind spots and inevitably experience transference and countertransference in this work. A supervisor’s gaze can help to bring awareness to aspects of the client dynamic we may not have been able to see.
